A true mix of culture, adventure and wildlife and something truly different, the tour starts and finishes with sightseeing in the ancient and modern cities of Delhi and Kolkata, soaking up their varied historic sights, cultures and cuisines. Then there is a day spent on boat safari in Sundarbans National Park and Tiger Reserve, the only mangrove forest in the world with an indigenous population of tigers plus a total of 58 other species of mammal, 55 species of reptile and around 248 species of bird.
The Park also offers protection to many rare and globally threatened animals such as the fishing cat, estuarine crocodile and Gangetic Dolphin, and a visit is a truly wonderful experience. There is also a trip to the Ayodhya Hills in the Purulia district of south Bengal, an area of natural beauty and home to the Paharia Tribe, once a nomadic tribe but now living on very unproductive lands. A visit to a tribal village to see their way of life and enjoy their traditional dance is a highlight of the tour. This area is also a fantastic place for rock climbing and abseiling, so all in all this trip has everything!
