This is a moderate to strenuous 8 day trek at high altitude in Ladakh and is only for the experienced trekker. Ladakh - or "Little Tibet" - is the most sparsely populated and remote area of India. A high altitude snow desert nestling in the northern Himalayas it is now renowned for trekking and adventure sports. Our tour starts with time to acclimatise to the altitude and to explore Leh, the capital and once a staging post on the old Silk Route. It is a bustling town surrounded by spectacular landscapes and atmospheric Buddhist monasteries. The trek itself starts from Spitok with its beautiful ancient monastery.
This is one of the most famous and beautiful treks in the Himalayas. There are spectacular views as you cross high mountain passes and wind through canyons where colourful prayer flags snap in the wind and where you could glimpse rare Himalayan blue sheep or even a snow leopard. You pass hilltop monasteries, numerous small villages and nomadic people herding yak. An amazing achievement and a once in a lifetime experience.
