There is time for some sightseeing in India's capital, Delhi, before flying to Guwahati, the capital of Assam. Situated between the picturesque foothills of the eastern Himalayas on the banks of the mighty Brahmaputra River, Guwahati is the gateway to the seven other north-eastern states and a tourist attraction in itself. From there we take a spectacular drive to Bhalukpong, a small town on the banks of the Kameng River surrounded by the dense forests that border the Pakhui Wildlife Sanctuary. It a haven for wildlife enthusiasts and adventurers as it is a centre for trekking, angling and rafting.

We tour the region visiting beautiful lakes and hot water springs, making our way to Nameri National Park nestled in the foothills of the eastern Himalayas and a haven for many endangered animals, in particular the Bengal tiger. The terrain consists of hilly deciduous forests flanking the Jia Bhoroli river. Other wildlife found in the park includes large herds of wild elephant, leopard, clouded leopard, black bear, gaur (Indian bison), wild dog, civet cat, pangolin, capped langur etc. Many species of bird, including the rare and endangered white winged wood duck and four species of hornbill can be seen. Here a whole day is spent seeing the wildlife, birding and rafting. From here we drive back to Guwahati for the return flight to Delhi.
