In the north of Bengal with the East Himalayas as a dramatic backdrop, The Dooars (the gateway or door to Bhutan) is a little explored valley covered with lush green forests and tea gardens and criss-crossed by beautiful rivers. The area is famous for its wildlife sanctuaries and on this tour there are game drives in Gorumara and Jaldapara National Parks, sanctuaries for rare and endangered breeds such as the one-horned rhino and wild elephant as well as many species of bird such as the black eagle, hill partridge, bronzed drongo, white-throated fantail, blue rock thrush, and scarlet minivet.

The tour includes sightseeing in the Kolkata, the former British capital of India, and Delhi, the current capital, where there is too much to see and do to describe here. The finale is a trip to Sundarbans Tiger Reserve, a huge area of forested islands that can only be visited by boat and is a true wildlife paradise. As well as being the only mangrove forest in the world with an indigenous population of tigers, in total there are 58 species of mammals, 55 species of reptiles and around 248 species of bird, and is also home to many rare and globally threatened animals such as the fishing cat, estuarine crocodile and Gangetic Dolphin
