This is a moderate to strenuous 5 day trek at high altitude in Ladakh for the experienced trekker. Ladakh - or "Little Tibet" - is the most sparsely populated and remote area of India.
A high altitude snow desert nestling in the northern Himalayas it is now renowned for trekking and adventure sports. Our tour starts with time to acclimatise to the altitude and to explore Leh, the capital and once a staging post on the old Silk Route. It is a bustling town surrounded by spectacular landscapes and atmospheric Buddhist monasteries.
The trek itself starts from the awe-inspiring monastery at Lamayuru and follows the old caravan route to Chilling, a small village where you can appreciate the local way of life and recuperate in a welcoming tea shop. Along the trek there are stunning views, Buddhist gompas to marvel at and the opportunity to see the traditional lifestyle of the hardy local people. A fantastic achievement and a once in a lifetime experience.
